Corrimony

Chapel within the Parish of: Urquhard

OS Ref: NH 376301    RCAHMS No: NH33SE 4

Deep within Glen Urquhart lies the site of the ancient St Curitan's Chapel at Corrimony. The antiquity of the area is confirmed by the nearby chambered cairn and Mony's Stone.

'Basin stone' at the foot of the plaque - said to be the original font.

Plaque fixed to cemetery wall.

Today, there is little of interest to the casual visitor. A relatively new wall surrounds the graveyard which contains only 'modern' memorials. In olden days the graveyard was known as Killuradan (the graveyard of St Uradan) and there was a St Uradan's Well nearby. St Curitan was active, it is said, between 700-75AD.
