St Fillan's Crozier.

Welcome to this site - Failte!

The main focus of this web-site is the group of Celtic Saints who brought Christianity to the Picts of the Dee and Don valleys in the north east of Scotland. But we have also added information regarding the Pictish King List, the Abbots of Iona and some of the ancient church sites ... and there is much more! Read on!

Articles about the Nature of the Celtic Church abound and, recently, the medieval history of the church in Scotland has been introduced. These pages are packed with photos and drawings of churches and church sites.

Also, this site now proudly hosts the "gateway" to the Scottish Fasti Project. An internet resource which, we hope, will be of value to all those who have an interest in the history of the medieval church in Alba.

The most recent additions to this site are three new volumes of images in the photo gallery and the start of a new database regarding the medieval churches of Moray Diocese. Readers may also be interested in the growing body of information regarding the medieval northern diocese - Moray, Ross and Caithness - to which we are in the process of adding Orkney.

We hope you may be sufficiently interested in the history of the Church in Scotland to consider our proposal to re-found the Scottish Ecclesiological Society.

We do not mind material being taken from our web-site for non-profit making purposes but we would ask that you include a link back to this site and an acknowledgement of authorship simply as a matter of good manners. An e-mail to us will often allow you access to a larger format image.
